This is my interpretation of the much loved and admired American Melonseed Skiff. Developed from from the lines recorded by Chapelle and Marc Barto, this 14 foot skiff is dressed to impress.
This skiff has been designed as a glued-lapstrake hull, with a central flat bottomed section followed by 7 planks a side. The plank overlaps are 16mm for the length of the planks. This all leads to a very strong hull that requires minimal internal bracing compared to the traditional hulls. All planks and molds can be precut for ease of construction.
Melonseed 14' Jig System
This is the comprehensive jig system cut from 9mm MDF for the Melonseed 14' skiff. Also included are the necessary templates for things like the transom and the stem laminating jigs.
Melonseed 14' Planking
These are all of the plank pieces cut from 6mm Marine Plywood for building the complete Melonseed 14' skiff. Each plank is labelled at the ends and has specially designed lock together "puzzle joints" that are unique for every joint to prevent the wrong planks from being joined.
